Spokane SCORE Offering Strategic Planning

Two nonprofit organizations have been chosen for Spokane SCORE's strategic planning opportunity.  They are Crescendo Community Chorus and the Spokane Center for Independent Living.

The Spokane Chapter of SCORE is offering a unique opportunity to nonprofit organizations in 2018. SCORE will provide strategic planning facilitation services to 2 nonprofit organizations free of charge. The facilitation will be performed by a SCORE counselor who has 40 years’ experience in nonprofit leadership and consulting.

The strategic planning model used is called Real-Time Strategic Planning and is adapted from the book The Nonprofit Strategy Revolution: Real-Time Strategic Planning in a Rapid-Response World, by David LaPiana. This unique process enables an organization to readily apply strategic thinking and planning disciplines to future opportunities and unexpected occurrences as they arise.

The planning process will be tailored to the needs of the organization. It can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months to complete depending on the scope and capacity of the organization. At the end of the process the organization will have a plan that articulates its most critical challenges and opportunities, identifies the strategies necessary to address them, and contains a specific plan of action for implementation.

This new service by SCORE is aimed at assisting small non-profit organizations. Preference will be given to organizations with annual operating budgets less than $500,000. To apply, go to the SCORE web site and download the Strategic Planning application form. Applications will be accepted through April 10, 2018 and the 2 recipients will be announced in April.
